English Teaching Sample for Business Class

Welcome to our administrative business English class! My name is Joy, and I'll be your instructor.

Before we begin, let's go over a few ground rules:

  • Please turn off your phones so that we can focus on the lesson.

  • If you have any questions, feel free to raise your hand and I'll be happy to help.

  • Let's try to speak in English as much as possible during the class.

Now, let's start by introducing ourselves. Can everyone please go around the room and say your name, your job title, and your company?

Great, now that we've all introduced ourselves, let's talk about some basic administrative business conversation starters.

  • Can you tell me more about your role in the company?

  • What are your responsibilities in your job?

  • How do you organize your workload?

  • Do you work closely with any other departments or teams?

These are all questions that you can use to start an administrative business conversation with someone. Let's practice using them with a partner.

[Have students practice conversation starters with a partner]

Great job! Now, let's move on to some common administrative business phrases and expressions that you can use in meetings and other professional settings.

  • Can you send me the agenda for the meeting?

  • I'd like to request a copy of the budget report.

  • Could you please forward me the email from the HR department?

  • I'm sorry, I'm not able to attend the conference call.

These are just a few examples, but there are many more administrative business phrases and expressions that you can use in your professional interactions.

[Have students practice using common administrative business phrases and expressions]

That's all for today's lesson. I hope you found it helpful and that you feel more confident using English in your administrative business conversations. Don't be afraid to make mistakes – it's the best way to learn and improve.

Thank you for participating and I'll see you in the next class!
